FTP Accounts
Learn about FTP accounts and about FTP in general - exactly what they are and when you will require them.
FTP is an acronym for File Transfer Protocol – a pretty popular method for exchanging files between a computer and a web server. With an FTP software program like CuteFTP or FileZilla, you can make a connection to the server and view its content in one pane, while the files on your computer will be displayed in another pane within the main program window. All you’ll need to do to send files or entire folders in either direction is to select them and then to drag them from one pane to the other. FTP is preferred by plenty of users because you can create different FTP accounts and each of them can be limited to connect to just one folder on the server, so a web designer, for instance, can fulfill their task without being able to access any other directory in your website hosting account. Also, the availability of different FTP accounts will also allow you to create multiple Internet sites with web design applications such as Dreamweaver or FrontPage and to upload them to their respective directories on the server.

FTP Accounts in Web Hosting
You’ll be able to set up as many FTP accounts as you want with each of the
web hosting offered by us, because we’ve decided not to restrict this service. Thus, you can maintain multiple websites at once or grant other people access to multiple directories. As soon as a specific job has been fulfilled and you wouldn’t like that individual to be able to access your files anymore, you can update the password for the given FTP account or you can just delete the account with a few clicks and stop worrying about someone accessing it once more. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is offered with all shared hosting packages, will allow you to check the complete list of the active FTP accounts displayed in alphabetical order. It takes just one single click to administer various options for any of them – to update the access path or the password, to download an auto-configuration file, etc.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Servers
When you host your websites under a
semi-dedicated server account, you will be able to set up a separate FTP account for each of them, since we haven’t limited this service with any of our semi-dedicated server plans. You can do this via the FTP section of our simple-to-use Hepsia hosting Control Panel where you can also see the full list of all the accounts that you have set up, together with the folder that each one can access. If needed, you’ll be able to update the password for a particular FTP account or to change its access path with a couple of clicks. You can also delete an account effortlessly if you no longer require it – for example, if you have hired a web developer who is finished with the website and you don’t want them to connect to your files anymore. For the sake of convenience, we have created different video tutorials, that will help you administer your FTP accounts without any effort if you have never used a website hosting plan before.

FTP Accounts in VPS Servers
The
VPS server plans offered by us will permit you to set up unlimited FTP accounts to manage the content of your websites. This is valid regardless of which Virtual Private Server plan you get and which Control Panel you select during the order procedure – Hepsia, DirectAdmin or cPanel. In all cases, you’ll get FTP access to the Virtual Private Server without having to install any kind of software, since an FTP server is part of the software stack which comes with the VPS plans by default. You can set up one FTP account for every domain or subdomain that you have or even multiple accounts for one single folder – in case you want different people to be able to access the web content in it using their very own personal sign-in credentials. With any of the Control Panels, setting up, deleting or modifying an FTP account requires no more than a couple of clicks of the mouse through a simple-to-navigate graphical interface.
